The Global Investment Banking & Sustainable Finance Lab will operate as a worldwide permissionless finance project ecosystem. Participants collaborate remotely to produce practical finance deliverables similar to those created in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, venture capital, and sustainable finance roles. The project will create open-source teams working on: * Public-company valuation models * M&A case studies * Industry research reports * Sustainable finance transaction analysis * Climate-transition finance research * ESG materiality assessments * Infrastructure financing studies * European capital market opportunities * AI applications in finance * Open-source finance datasets The project uses primarily free resources: * Free finance education resources from Open Risk Academy * Free sustainable finance learning resources from CASI Academy * Free learning materials from Capitals Coalition Learning Resources * Open-source finance technology from CFA Institute RPC Labs * Open-source finance AI research including FinGPT The output of the project becomes a public portfolio for participants, helping them demonstrate practical experience to investment banks, asset managers, consulting firms, development banks, private equity firms, and fintech companies. The project succeeds because it addresses three real-world trends: 1. Investment banks continue recruiting and face talent shortages in several areas. 2. Europe faces a massive annual investment gap requiring skilled finance professionals. 3. Demand is growing for professionals who combine finance, sustainability, data, and AI capabilities.
